Ukraine Family of Christ Hub Story: $5 Million of aid in first 90 days of the war

Ukraine Family of Christ Hub is a registered charity. UFoC Hub and its leaders, based in Uzhhorod, have been reaching out to orphanages, hospitals and the disabled in the western regions of Ukraine for a decade. When the war broke out their network became in much greater need. Then their network grew as desperate requests began to come in from all over the country. Orphanages have doubled in the west as parents have perished and orphanages in the east have closed down. Orphanages along with hospital resources have significantly decreased.

Military outposts and hospitals have continual requests including medical field kits, safety equipment and body armor. Ultra sound machines are in high demand as most hospitals were equipped with x-ray machines but not ultra sound machines. Ukraine could use over 100 ultra sound machines for wounded soldiers as this war is producing many body shrapnel wounds.

A fleet of trucks and vans deliver aid to 70 cities and then return to bring refugee families, children, and elderly from the east to the west. The western regions also have become flooded with refugees displaced from Kyiv and the east. 4 million refugees have left Ukraine – 5 million refugees and growing displaced inside Ukraine. Humanitarian needs have increased all over the country and resources are critically low.

UFoC Hub is strategically based in Uzhhorod, Ukraine on the western border. This is an ideal place for a hub that allows access to aid from western countries and then to be able to distribute throughout all of Ukraine, including military outposts and cities in the east – over 420 tons distributed in the first 90 days of the war. It also is able to support the refugee population in the western regions – 500,000 refugee meals in the first 90 days of the war.

$5 million critical humanitarian and military medical aid In the first 90 days of war was able to happen with less than $150,000 of donations. UFoC Hub is doing a United Nations level relief work at a percentage of what it would cost the UN.

Refugees serving refugees: Over 50,000 volunteer hours have also made this possible as many of the displaced refugees in Uzhhorod desire to be the boots on the ground and bring aid to help their own people.

Aid stockpiling up at the border – Transportation needed.

Now there is aid stockpiling in neighboring countries. Many relief agencies are not allowed to come into war zones. If this aid would be transported to UFoC Hub warehouse in Uzhhorod it would be distributed to those in desperate need and literally save lives. UFoC Hub with drivers and trucks from Ukraine would be able to access this if they had the funds for vehicles and fuel.

Transportation is the key to be able to continue and expand to reach the ongoing needs. Currently HFoC Hub fleet is 14 trucks and vans many of them have many miles. 150,000 miles were put on them the first 90 days of the war. 50% of the $500,000 goal will go toward an annual transportation and warehouse budget and allow the fleet to expand to 1) receive aid from the west 2) distribute it to partners throughout the country and 3) continue to transport individuals in harm’s way from the east to the west.

Your contribution will allow aid to get to those that need it the most and save lives. Thank you for considering bring hope to Ukraine.
