LAKE STREET FOOD GIVEAWAY VOLUNTEER INFO AND SIGNUP
NOTICE: The Saturday, October 22nd Food Distribution has been moved to 2609 Stevens Ave, Minneapolis.
AVISO: La distribución de alimentos del sábado 22 de octubre se ha trasladado a 2609 Stevens Ave, Minneapolis.
What: Providing fresh produce, non-perishable food, and other household items to hundreds of people in need. We need volunteers to help with multiple roles which include: setting up, sorting food, pushing shopping carts full of food, crowd control, traffic control, intake (data entry), tear down, and more.
When: May 21, June 25, July 23, August 27, September 24, and October 22.
Time Slots: Choose your volunteer time slot(s) below – 8-10am, 9:30am-Noon & 11:30am-2pm. The 2 last shifts are the most needed.
Where: The former Minneapolis Kmart parking lot (10 W Lake St, Minneapolis). This area was devastated by the Minneapolis unrest and the food and poverty crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who: All are welcome to receive food and volunteer. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Source MN is the organization in charge of running the event. Through urban outreach and anti-trafficking efforts, Source empowers the at-risk and unreached to make a break from the past and build foundations for the future.
COVID-Safe Volunteering: Source MN volunteer opportunities are COVID-safe (to the best of our abilities). We ask that no people volunteer with Source MN who are currently experiencing any of the following COVID-19 symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, vomiting, or a new loss of taste or smell.

– Spanish, Vietnamese and Somali Interpreters.
– Trucks and trailers to haul equipment to and from Kmart.
