“Meat, Eggs, Milk” YE Initiative: Healthy Food For Those In Need
2024 YE Goal: $125k to continue HEALTHY Food to 600 families each week – Replace discontinued 2024 resources
2025: $125,000 to Continue HEALTHY Food for the Poor
The discontinued rescue program and county grants have left a $125,000 deficit (30% of the food budget).

In 2024 Source will provide $4.5 Million of HEALTHY Food Relief to over 600 family visits weekly – 30,000 family visits in ’24 (135,000 individuals). We have been able to do this for under 12% cost/value ratio – 2024 cost was $400,000 but will increase to $550,000 in 2025.
In 2025 the cost will increase $5/family (from $15 to $20/family visit) to continue to provide HEALTHY Food. The cost in 2025 will be $20/visit that will provide $160 (more than 8x the cost) of food for the week. The average family size is 4.7.
Since 2020 Source has provided more than $15 Million of HEALTHY Food Relief to the poorest of the poor in the South Mpls Neighborhoods that are still recovering from the 2020 unrest.
100,000 times families (over 400,000 individuals) have received HEALTHYFood that has always included positive calories: 2 Meat items, *Eggs, Milk, Fresh Produce, Rice, Beans plus hygiene products (*Eggs when available).
Continuing to provide HEALTHY Food is in jeopardy, due to the $125,000 of lost resources increasing the food budget over 30%. In 2024 we have lost $80,000 of meat and eggs as the Rescue Food Program ended earlier this year. We have also lost our county grant of over $45,000. This has created a $125,000 deficit of funds needed for us to continue our commitment to HEALTHY food in 2025.

Healthy Food & Children In Need
Dignity & Health: Impoverished Families & Children
Healthy food and food stabilization are significant factors in stability and decreasing medical costs, health issues, domestic abuse and drug abuse in families battling poverty.
Due to expense and availability, getting HEALTHY food is a significant challenge for the urban poor and as a result increases health risks. It is also a challenge for any food shelf to offer healthy food because many donated foods are processed, and high in sugar/starches.
Continuing to provide HEALTHY Food is in danger for 2025. We have always given away what we have. The thousands of volunteer hours, our efficiency, and generous donors have allowed us to keep costs down as we prioritized securing HEALTHY food. Thank You.
We never imagined we would be able to serve and minister to so many of those in need these last five years. Our heart and hope is that we would continue to ministry “whole”-istically starting with the dignity of HEALTHY Food to the poorest of the poor.
Please prayerfully consider making a difference and partnering with Source through giving donations, volunteering and/or spreading the word.
Join us in praying for this year-end goal of overcoming the $125,000 deficit of funds needed for us to continue our commitment to HEALTHY food in 2025.
