Volunteering Information
Where is it?
The Source MN food shelf is located at 2609 Stevens Ave, Minneapolis.
What will I be doing?
The Source MN Food Shelf provides fresh produce, non-perishable food, and other household items to hundreds of people in need every week. We need volunteers to help with multiple roles which include: sorting/bagging food, pushing shopping carts full of food, loading cars with boxes of food, traffic control, and more. We only ask that you wear closed toed shoes!
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Everyone who volunteers at our food shelf needs to fill out our volunteer waiver. This can be done online at sourcemn.org/waiver.
Where do I park?
We do not have a parking lot so we would recommend allowing a few extra minutes to find parking. You may need to be prepared to walk a few blocks. Most of the street parking in our neighborhood is unmetered. If you cannot find any parking on Stevens Ave (the street the food shelf is on), there is usually parking available on 2nd Ave S (just one block away).
What do I do when I arrive?
Come on inside! If the doors are locked and no one is around please ring our doorbell and a staff member will come let you in. You can sign in at our volunteer station, fill out a name tag, wash your hands, and then a staff member will get you started.
COVID-Safe Volunteering
Source MN volunteer opportunities are COVID-safe (to the best of our abilities). We ask that no people volunteer with Source MN who are currently experiencing any of the following COVID-19 symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, vomiting, or a new loss of taste or smell.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email volunteer@sourcemn.org.
