Source MN $3 Million in food relief – want to continue in 2022 Source MN responded to the 2020 Mpls Unrest by providing 100,000 lbs of food monthly. From June 2020 thru 2021 Source Mn provided over a 1.5 million lbs of food ($3 million in food relief). Source Mn year end goal of $250,000 is so we can do it again in 2022.

Covid relief programs have ended We have been able to provide $3 million of food relief in the last 18 months largely because of Covid relief grants that have now discontinued. Our hope is to continue to provide in 2022. Source is able to provide food relief for less than 25% of the benefit.

Since 1995, Source Mn is located and has reached out to the epicenter of the 2020 Mpls Unrest. The need continues to be high during these rebuild years. The first few years after riots, that destroyed East Lake Street Neighborhoods, will be significant for decades to come. The need in Mpls continues to be significant. Crime and Violence remain record highs and summer season work has stopped.

Don’t Forget Mpls: The need continues to grow, we have seen a 25% increase of families at our food shelf in the month of November, 2021. Currently we see 1,200 recipients (over 4,000 family members) monthly. One third of recipients are without vehicles representing the poorest of the poor. This winter we hope to begin to deliver groceries to the elderly and those without vehicle and continue our packing program supplying gift cards to the recipients that help distribute the food.

Along with our food distribution adding to family stabilization we have seen 100’s receive pastoral counseling and prayer, 250 first time commitments for God’s direction. Also our Lake Street ’22 Initiatives have included: Family and Homeless Food Distribution, Latino Outreach, teen internships, anti-trafficking, and small business support.
