Since 1995, Source has made an impact on teens in prostitution, homeless youth, and victims of the sex industry by providing them with hope for a better life and opportunities to empower the individual to make a break from their past. We have been excited to see how our outreach has impacted the community with numbers continuing to grow throughout this last year.

Our community outreach programs doubled those we are able to serve. We averaged providing over 41 families much needed groceries from our food shelf and serving an average of 42 meals at our weekly community program. The most impactful statistic from these community programs is the lives that we have played a part in stabilizing after they have experienced a crisis. Furthermore, we are looking to increase our monthly food and event capacities significantly this next year. Our location is ideal to serve the needs of the at-risk and the impoverished. As a result, the city is requiring us to upgrade our facility to be able to accommodate larger numbers.

Last year, we increased our anti-trafficking outreach initiatives through partnering with local law enforcement and service providers. However, the staff leadership transitioned, and we are in a new season. We are now focusing our energies on expanding our homeless youth and street outreach programs, growing our network, and revamping the program to be more effective for the coming years. We look forward to the new law enforcement details planned for September 2019.

In June, Source hosted a Homeless Youth Seminar (see overview and videos at SourceMn.org). The presenters each averaged over twenty years’ experience working with the at-risk and homeless youth. The main takeaway from this event was to help us understand the effective ways to make a significant impact with at-risk teens that deal with addiction, past abuse, victimization, and may have walls up against receiving any help.
