A Growing Need, A Growing Opportunity

Every week, women at risk walk through our doors—many in tears, many offering prayers of gratitude. It is the only place that offers the basic necessities of food, hygene products, a shower and laundry. Staff and Case Workers help them navigate housing/employment options, addiction recovery program, medical clinics, parenting/child needs and recovery resources to guide the practical steps of building foundations for a future. They are also offered prayer, encouragement and hope that God cares for them and wants to help them overcome. They are invited to small groups to grow in faith and introduced to local congregations.

But the need has outgrown our current space.

In 2024 alone, over 1,000 women came through our doors, twice the number from the previous year. Today, 30–50 women attend each week, overwhelming our current facility, which only has one shower, one washer/dryer, and 300 sq. ft. of meeting space.

It’s time for a new home.

Stories of Transformation

“There is no place else doing this!”

“I came into town with two small children, no belongings, and nowhere to live. Women’s Drop-In was the only place I could find help. I was treated with dignity, they prayed with me, and they provided food, housing, and a church home for my family. I am so grateful!”

“This is the only place where I feel safe – thank you!”

“I have nowhere to do laundry and take a shower.”

And then there’s Maria’s story.
She first came to the Drop-In looking for food and hygiene items. She received prayer, connected with staff, and later attended La Fuente church services. In May, Maria was baptized—one of 14 women baptized that month alone. Today, she thanks God for her new hope and new start.

It’s time for a new home.

The Source Community Center, The Fallout, was established in 2001. It is located in the heart of South Mpls in the East Lake street neighborhoods that were hit the hardest in 2020 and are now in the decades of struggling to rebuild and be restored. Lots of urban diversity with internationals, the arts, shelters and homeless. It is also the largest population of immigrants in the city along with poverty, crime, trafficking and abuses.

The New Women’s Center Will Provide:

  • Multiple showers & laundry stations
  • Private counseling rooms for healing conversations
  • Case worker office for recovery resources and support
  • Hygiene & clothing storage for immediate needs
  • Dedicated Drop-In space with 10x the room of our current facility
  • 6 bedrooms (2 residential units) for women transitioning out of crisis
  • Future potential for free medical or therapy clinics

The New Women’s Center in an ideal location, adjacent to the Community Center. Being accessibly and available is essential to aiding our food and outreach programs that include homeless outreach and community meals. Having drop-in hours, resources and staff all individuals to return when they are in need physically, emotionally and spiritually. We see individuals after first contact immediately and sometimes several months and even years later. Some actually say, “I’m ready now.”

The Reality We Face

  • 15 years old: average age a girl is first trafficked
  • Within 48 hours, a homeless youth will be approached by sex or drug industry predators
  • 15% increase in homeless women since 2020
  • 53,000 survivors receive domestic violence services in Minnesota annually
  • 40 women lost their lives to domestic violence in 2023 alone—a record number
  • 1 in 4 Minnesota women report physical violence from an intimate partner at some point in their life

They need a place of refuge. They need hope. They need Christ.
