UMT
Urban Ministry Training

(or Urban Monastic Training)
5/28 - 6/6
10 week Transit Fuel
5/24– 8/2
includes both intensives

You are welcome to participate in one or both the intensives individually, or participate in the whole 10 week Transit Fuel (that includes all three plus being part of the Source BR’s summer community). See below for more details on each of these.

Transit Fuel & Intensives

Purpose: To provide entry points to build relationship with 24/7-prayer, experience Boiler Room communities, see and participate urban outreach, learn the foundations for effectiveness and longevity, and hear the many layers of our story.

Thank you for your interest in the 24/7 Transit Fuel and intensives. We’re excited to offer three different 4-8 day intensive gatherings/trainings this summer along with the 10 week Transit Fuel (internship) that will include all of them. We hope to have several individuals and leaders from several different Boiler Rooms be part of hosting and teaching at all three intensives. Whether you can join us for just one of the intensives or the full 10 weeks, it is a great opportunity to experience, build relationships, get to know individuals in the 24/7 national community, and learn foundational values.

Each of the intensives will have different focuses. Along with the intensives, the 10 week Transit Fuel will give a more in depth experience, relationship building, and teaching of values and being part of a Boiler Room Community. .

Transit Fuel: 10 week internship Minneapolis
2 intensives ( UMT, & Art Intensive)
– 2 tracts: 1) Urban Outreach / Prayer - 2) the Arts

TF will be an intense 10 weeks in which you will get to know and meet individuals from the Source Community and meet many other individuals and organizations reaching out in the city. The intensives consist of a heighten schedule with pilgrims coming to join from around the country. Between the intensive weeks, you will be joining the Source Boiler Room Community rhythm, living in a community house near the Fallout, participating in a daily rhythm of prayer and outreach, and sit in on weekly gathering times that will feature more in depth teaching from a variety of leaders and urban neighbors that have given their lives to reach out and live amongst urban diversity.

TF participants will also be given the option of choosing a focus of interest. The 2 focus offered will be 1) Urban Outreach / Prayer & 2) Arts. The summer will be guided by personal and small group mentorship, experience along side staff/community members, and the individual's spiritual growth. Being a part of a Boiler Room, getting to know the individuals and families, outreach team, coffeeshop and street outreach, hosting outreach events, worship and prayer, teaching & training, building projects, ministry journals, and discipleship groups are all a part of TF. TF participants will also help host the Fallout Art fest at the end of the summer and there may be an option to attend the Cornerstone Music Festival in July.

24/7 Transit Intensives

UMT
Urban Ministry Training

(or Urban Monastic Training)
5/28 - 6/6

UMT (Urban Ministry Training):
This is an attempt to try to give away all we can to the participants that come to attend. Boiler Rooms have the same DNA, but have unique expressions as each community, neighborhood, and city they are located in is unique. This is a great opportunity to connect and learn from many different leaders while experiencing a Boiler Room for a week. There will be a wide spectrum of experience from different leaders, and credible urban ministries (shelters, urban missions, inner-city churches, halfway houses, etc.). Creative teaching times, small group processing, prayer/worship, afternoon electives, evening outreaches, and meals to connect are all included.

Other highlights include:
- Drum&Easel (interactive art party in a shelter),
- Fallout Friday Art Opening / Open-mic, and
- Hosting interactive stations & Drum Jams at the Minneapolis Mosaic Block Party (annual event to spotlight Mpls local artists)

Drum&Easel Art Intensive
The Drum&Easel Art Intensive Week will be week that we will focus on how communities can use creativity to impact culture and how individual artist can become the full expression of how God made them. Join us for a week of creating, presenting, learning, and serving in the contextof relationship, families (children can come!), collaboration and worship. The Week will include: sharing, intensive teaching, worship times, creative workshops, and an interactive Art party at local shelter. You will see and experience the Fallout Urban Art Center and FAI Coop first hand. During the week there will also be opportunity to participate on individual and group art projects as we will be prepping for the Fallout Art Fest at the end of the week.

The Fallout Arts Initiative (FAI) is part of Source. It’s purposes are to 1) resource and equip emerging artist and 2) facilitate creative services that will benefit the poor. The FAI was conceived out a heart to combine creativity, justice, mission, and hospitality. It also allows Source to build relationships and community with the art culture (which is typically highly skeptical of any Christian initiative). Minneapolis has the world’s most theatres per capita and ifa very liberal and artistic city. The Fallout Urban Art Center (Gallery, warehouse performance space, prayer room) and the FAI Coop Building (23 different visual and performing studios) is located across the street from the Art Institute/MCAD/Children’s Theatre.

Fallout Art Fest: what’s a great way to serve a poor diverse urban artistic neighborhood? Host an incredible interactive neighborhood artistic block party. Each year we block off the streets in front of the Fallout UAC and the FAI Coop to make room for 2,000 attendees, 100 artist and performers, 5 stages, artist booths, interactive art stations, indy film fest, community murals, kids activities, free food, and one incredible lala-palooza worship circle dancing drum jam.

24/7-Prayer & Boiler Rooms:

24-7prayer started by accident in September 1999, with a bunch of young people in Englandwho got the crazy idea of trying to pray non-stop for a month. God turned up and they couldn't stop til Christmas! From there the prayer meeting has spread into many nations, denominations and age-groups. Hundreds of non-stop prayer meetings now link up here on the web to form a unique chain of prayer www.24-7prayer.com.

24-7 has become a worldwide, non-stop prayer movement. With 3 dimensions to the movement: 1) A network of Prayer Rooms determined to pray like it all depends on us and live like it all depends on God until the tide turns in our generation
2) A Missions movement quickly arose out of the Prayer Rooms as we received requests to take teams to 'high places' in youth culture.
3) Boiler Rooms – Christ focused, missional prayer communities. Taking the 24/7 values andliving them out in holistic communities.

Source Boiler Room: Source has been to be a friend and a voice to the marginalized and urban sub-cultures since 1995. Source is located in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country with over 100 languages spoken within 1.5 miles, across the street from the Art Institute/MCAD/Children’s Theatre, and living amongst the homeless and poverty with 2 shelters within 4 blocks. Wounded, anti-mainstream, post-moderns, artists, homeless youth, urban poor, rainbow kids, drug dealers, prostitutes, Muslim internationals, and music scenesters are not just our people group, but they are literally our neighbors.

After nurturing relationships for several years with 24/7 and recognizing similar values and DNA, Source has become a Boiler Room. We’re excited to have a national and international family to be able to give and receive from.

Our goal is to be a Holistic Cross-Generational Missional Community that is not just in proximately, but is establishing significant relationships and being a light to individuals. We primarily desire to be available to build relationships that allow us to love individuals. Our holistic approach of being a FRIEND (serving physical, emotional and spiritual needs) and a VOICE (communicating God's love and forgiveness) allows us to reach those who are coming out of devastating and troubling histories, skeptical of Christians and would not come into a church for help or answers.

The Fallout Urban Art Center is somewhat our community hub: it includes – a gallery, performance warehouse, prayer room, showers for homeless youth, kitchen, and a skateramp in he back. We have also combined our energies around initiatives that allow us to better serve needs and are also tools to build relationships - urban outreach, the Fallout Arts Initiative (Fallout Urban Art Center & Art Co-op), annual Art Fest / block party, incarnational living, community homes, transitional housing and Gatherings/Trainings. ??
